Judge Shahrukh Arjumand had recused himself from pronouncing the reserved verdict in the Iddat case and written to the IHC to transfer the case to another court.
In the letter, he said the appeals of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were fixed for hearing and a verdict on those appeals was to be pronounced that day, but complainant Khawar Maneka had expressed no confidence in him.
He said that Khawar Maneka’s plea of no confidence had earlier been disposed of, but after he expressed his no confidence in him again, it would be inappropriate to pronounce the verdict.
Meanwhile, a district and sessions court in Islamabad has acquitted former prime minister Imran Khan, former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, and others in two cases of vandalism and violation of Section 144 during the Azadi March organised by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
PTI leaders – Ali Muhammad Khan, Naeem Haider Panjutha, Sardar Masroof Advocate, and Amina Ali Advocate appeared in the court for the hearing of the cases. Former PTI leader Asad Umar also appeared before the court.
The court acquitted PTI founder Imran Khan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Asad Umar, Ali Muhammad Khan, and Murad Saeed in the cases. Judicial Magistrate Ehtesham Alam pronounced the verdict on the acquittal pleas.
It is worth mentioning here that two cases were registered at Golra police station against PTI founder Imran Khan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, and other party leaders.
While talking to Suno News outside the court, senior PTI leader Ali Muhammad Khan said a protest movement will start from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and spread to the whole country.
He said, “I have been acquitted in a case after two years. In the case in which I have been acquitted, PTI founder Imran Khan, Murad Saeed, and Asad Umar were also nominated. A wrong case has ended today. Two years were wasted.”
