LAHORE: (Suno News) The Sessions Court Lahore adjourned till April 29 the hearing of a petition seeking order for the registration of a first information report (FIR) against Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for wearing Punjab Police uniform, and sought a report from the front desk office of the police station concerned.

Wearing Punjab Police uniform, the chief minister participated in a passing out parade on Thursday.

Additional Sessions Judge Muzaffar Nawaz Malik passed the order on the petition. The petition was filed by Advocate Aftab Bajwa Under Sections 22A and 22B of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC). The petition reads that according to the law, no person can wear police uniform, but the Chief Minister has violated the law.

The petition says a complaint was earlier submitted to the police station concerned to register an FIR against the chief minister, requesting the court order for the registration of a case against Maryam Nawaz.

Maryam had also addressed the passing out parade at Chung Police Training Centre in Lahore, and said that her government wanted to boost women’s strength in police by increasing their numbers to half in the force.

Maryam Nawaz said that it was a matter of pride to participate in the passing out parade, adding: “The lady cops who participated in the passing out parade are very alert. I am glad that Pakistan has so much talent."
