Contempt petition against Imran Khan: Supreme Court raises question, adjourns hearing
ISLAMABAD: (Suno News) The Supreme Court (SC) raised questions over the appearance of Additional Attorney General Aamir Rehman in the government's contempt of court petition against PTI founder Imran Khan.

A five-member bench, headed by Justice Aminuddin Khan, conducted the hearing on the contempt of court petition filed by the government against Imran Khan.

Justice Jamal Mandokhail inquired that if contempt of court proceedings are initiated, the Attorney General s Office is supposed to be the prosecutor, yet senior lawyer Salman Aslam Butt represented the government in this case, but he was unavailable today.

Justice Jamal Mandokhail remarked that in a contempt of court case, the petitioner’s role is merely to provide information, and since the information has already reached the court, the government’s role is now complete.

The court adjourned the hearing indefinitely due to the absence of Salman Aslam Butt.

It is worth noting that the government filed the contempt of court petition against Imran Khan in June 2022. The petition was filed after the long march was brought 9 to 4 kilometers ahead of the designated location on Jinnah Avenue.
