KARACHI: (Suno News) Emirates Airline has announced a significant decision regarding Pakistan, declaring plans to establish a major cargo business hub at Karachi airport.
According to sources, Emirates has requested 90,000 square feet of space at the Karachi airport’s cargo terminal. In light of the growing demand for cargo services, Emirates has decided to make Karachi its cargo hub. Currently, Emirates handles the largest cargo business from Karachi.
In 2024 alone, Emirates transported over 27,000 tonnes of cargo from Karachi, while Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), due to negligence and lack of proper planning, managed only 2,000 tonnes during the same period.
To meet the increasing demand, Emirates has sought a large space at Karachi airport from the airport authority. Responding to Emirates’ request, the airport authority has started working on allocating space at the cargo terminal.
