Dense fog has swept across Pakistan, prompting the closure of several major motorways and causing significant traffic disruptions. Authorities have urged travelers to exercise extreme caution and avoid the affected routes until visibility improves.
Motorways Closed Due to Fog
M-2: Closed from Thokar Niaz Baig to Balkasar.
M-3: Closed from Faisalpur to Samundari.
M-4: Closed from Pindi Bhattian to Shorkot; also closed for heavy vehicles from Faisalabad to Abdul Hakim.
M-11: Closed from Lahore to Sambrial.
Officials have emphasized that the dense fog significantly reduces visibility, increasing the risk of accidents. Travelers have been advised to postpone non-essential journeys and use alternate routes if travel is unavoidable.
Traffic police and motorway authorities are actively monitoring the affected areas, deploying warning signs and patrolling key sections to manage traffic flow and prevent accidents. Emergency response teams are on standby to assist motorists in case of breakdowns or incidents.
Commuters are also advised to keep headlights on low beam, maintain a safe distance from other vehicles, and avoid overtaking in foggy conditions. Authorities warned that continued fog in the coming days could further affect intercity travel and urged people to plan their journeys accordingly.

This dense fog follows recent cold weather conditions in various parts of the country and is expected to linger in some areas, delaying travel and causing road closures. Citizens are encouraged to stay updated on motorway conditions via official channels before embarking on long-distance travel.
