During a National Assembly question-answer session, Parliamentary Secretary for Defence Zaib Jaffar revealed that PIA earned an operating profit of Rs9,300,000,000 and a net profit of Rs26,000,000,000 last year. She said after financial reforms, the airline is now adding more flights in the Middle East and also launching new routes to Kuala Lumpur, Baku and Istanbul.
Zaib Jaffar also shared a historic update regarding the Pakistan Army. She confirmed that 80 percent of its sectors have now been opened for women’s recruitment. Currently, more than 5,000 women are serving in the army, including nearly 700 who secured commission in the past three years.
However, some areas that require extreme physical strength and long exposure to dangerous conditions remain limited for women.
She further highlighted that a separate career management policy exists for female officers. This includes training and development programs to ensure equal opportunities for promotions and growth within the military.
