ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has declared illegal the withdrawal of a notification issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) which had mentioned the success of Miss Sadaf Ihsan on reserved seat.

The notification pertaining to the success of Miss Sadaf Ihsan on the reserved seat for woman was issued and then withdrawn by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on the request of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F).

The JUI-F had claimed that Sadaf Ihsan did not belong to the party and her name had not appeared on the party’spriority list for reserved seats.

In a letter to the ECP, the JUI-F supremo had said: “It is requested that the Commission probe the matter to ascertain whether it occurred by mistake or by deliberation.

Miss Sadaf Ihsan has been “wrongly notified as she does not belong to JUI-F”, Fazlur Rehman had said. “Therefore, the notification dated March 4 should be withdrawn as the only rightful candidate is Hina Bibi. She was on the party”s priority list,” he said in the request sent to the ECP.

The Maulana had called for an investigation into “inclusion of the name of an unknown woman” in the notification for reserved seats.

After hearing arguments from both the sides, the PHC has decided the petition in favour of Miss Sadaf Ihsan.
