Punjab launches initiative to promote Punjabi language in schools

LAHORE (Web Desk): The Punjab government has launched a new initiative to promote Punjabi language, literature, and polite conversation in all public schools across the province.

Students will now be trained to use courteous words like “Tusi” and “Assi” while avoiding informal or offensive language.

The initiative aims to encourage respectful communication among young learners. The program also highlights the importance of regional languages.

Saraiki and Pothohari will be promoted in southern and northern Punjab, respectively, through school activities and interactive sessions.

Headteachers have been instructed to organize classroom activities in local languages.

They must record videos of students speaking Punjabi or other regional languages and share them in official CEO groups.

Implementation reports will be submitted to monitor compliance.

This initiative could strengthen cultural roots and improve language skills in students. By encouraging polite conversation and promoting regional languages, Punjab is taking steps to preserve its linguistic heritage.
