The Punjab government has approved a major overhaul of the examination system by introducing e-marking and biometric attendance across all education boards to ensure transparency, merit, and efficiency.
Under the new digital reform plan, all Punjab education boards will shift to technology-based assessment systems, marking a significant step toward modernising public examinations. The reforms aim to reduce human error, prevent malpractice, and standardise evaluation methods.
Chairman of the Punjab Examination Task Force, Muzammil Mahmood, said the e-marking system will be implemented in all boards to ensure fair and unbiased result preparation. He confirmed that the pilot phase will begin in 2026, starting with computer-based matric and intermediate examinations.

In addition to digital marking, biometric attendance systems will be installed at all examination centres across Punjab. The system will digitally verify student identities, helping authorities curb impersonation and strengthen examination discipline.
Mahmood further revealed that the reforms will be completed in phases over the next three years. A centralised question bank will also be established for all boards to ensure uniformity, improved paper quality, and consistent academic standards.
Education officials believe the Punjab education boards digital system will significantly enhance transparency, credibility, and efficiency, aligning the province’s examination framework with international best practices.
Authorities have assured students and parents that adequate training, infrastructure development, and testing will be conducted before full implementation to ensure a smooth transition to the digital system.
