The move aims to promote fairness and transparency in Punjab’s government job recruitments, ensuring that every candidate gets an equal chance.
Under the new policy, merit will now depend solely on the PPSC written exam and interview results, with greater weightage given to the written test.
This change ensures that candidates are judged purely on performance rather than academic background.
The Commission has also abolished the additional marks policy that previously rewarded research publications and non-clinical experience.
PPSC will implement the new merit policy from January 1, 2026. The decision came after a Full Commission meeting, chaired by retired Inspector General and Commission Member Arif Nawaz Khan, which reviewed recommendations from the Reform Committee.

PPSC Secretary Afzal Ahmad said the decision followed a comparative study of global public service commissions. He added that the reform aims to align Punjab’s recruitment system with international hiring standards.
PPSC Chairman Lieutenant General (retd) Muhammad Abdul Aziz reasserted the Commission’s commitment to transparency, impartiality, and equal opportunity for all candidates applying for provincial government positions.
