LAHORE: (Web Desk) All educational institutions in Punjab are set to reopen on Monday, following a temporary closure prompted by heightened tensions between Pakistan and India.

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat confirmed in a statement on Sunday that schools, colleges, and universities will resume regular classes from May 12 (Monday).

The province-wide closure was implemented on May 7 after Indian drone strikes targeted areas in Punjab and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), prompting the education

“The safety of students and staff remains our top priority,” the minister said.

“Now that the situation has stabilised, academic activities will proceed without further delay,” he added.

Due to closure of the educational institutions, the major board examinations were postponed. The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) in Lahore, Multan, Gujranwala and other regions postponed scheduled exams, including Quran translation, ethics, and practical papers.

Controller examinations of all the regional boards said they would announce the new dates in the coming days.

India launched strikes during the night between May 6 and 7, violating ceasfire agreement. At least 31 innocent civilians martyred in the wake of the cowardly attacks.
