The decision has left parents and students in suspense about the city’s weather crisis! The education department of Sindh has confirmed that all private and government schools and colleges will remain closed tomorrow, citing ongoing rain and the city’s challenging conditions, sparking curiosity about how long this disruption will last.
Earlier, several private schools announced their closure on August 21, sharing the news on social media platforms, which has added to the buzz among Karachi’s residents wondering about the full impact.
Meanwhile, intermittent rain continues across Karachi today, with the meteorology department reporting the highest rainfall of 37mm in Orangi Town, 32mm at PAF Base, and 18mm at Jinnah Terminal, keeping everyone on edge about the weather’s next move.

Additionally, Kiamari recorded 13mm, the airport 11mm, and Defence Clifton 8mm of rain. Heavy downpours in areas like Korangi, Malir, Airport, Shah Faisal, Saddar, Kiamari, Nazimabad, and Surab Goth caused vehicles and motorbikes to get stranded, raising concerns for commuters. Moreover, landslides struck Katti Pahari, with debris blocking roads and narrowly missing causing casualties. The falling rocks jammed traffic, leaving drivers anxious about their safety amid the downpour.
In response, traffic police have issued an advisory urging people to avoid unnecessary travel during the rain and to stay clear of dilapidated buildings, signboards, trees, and electric poles to prevent potential accidents, heightening the city’s alert status.
The closure of schools and ongoing rain indicate a severe weather challenge in Karachi, with landslides and traffic issues highlighting infrastructure vulnerabilities. The government’s quick action suggests a focus on safety, but the lack of top 10 bowlers and all-rounders in previous rankings hints at broader preparedness concerns. Residents must heed the advisory to avoid risks.
