Punjab initiates second phase of ‘Honhaar Scholarship programme’
LAHORE (Web Desk): Punjab government has initiated the second phase of ‘Honhaar Scholarship programme.’

Under the programme, the government of Punjab will distribute electronic bikes and laptops among students.

In the first phase, government awarded scholarship to 2570 students in Rawalpindi division. The ceremony of distribution of scholarship was held in FAST University.

Addressing the ceremony, CM Maryam Nawaz said that the government would give scholarship to thirty thousand students this year. The number will be increased to fifty thousand next year. She emphasised that this scholarship is right of the students. Sixty per cent of students who received scholarship were girls. The sixty percent of scholarship is being provided to girls to encourage women to get education, CM said.

She stated for the first time, students from private universities would receive scholarship, adding that the laptops would be distributed among students soon.

CM Maryam further said that electronic bikes would be given to girls on the basis of merit next year.

“Chinese companies are going to install manufacturing units for e-bikes in Punjab, This will not only strengthen economy but also provide advanced facilities to people,” Maryam Nawaz added.

She announced that government would provide best possible facility to students to learn the modern technology skills.

She also recalled her political struggle when she faced difficulties and jails. She urged students to focus on their studies.
