According to an official notification issued under the PM&DC Act 2022, the maximum annual tuition fee for MBBS and BDS programs, previously was Rs1.8 million, will now increase to Rs1.89 million.
The decision was made following recommendations from the Medical Education Committee, formed under the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to standardize medical education costs nationwide.
However, several parents of students enrolled in the 2023–24 session alleged that some private institutions continue to charge Rs2.7 million or more, violating the official fee cap. They called on authorities to enforce strict compliance with the new PM&DC policy.
The council further announced that from 2026–27 onward, annual fee adjustments will be linked to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation rate to ensure transparency and consistency.
PM&DC also directed all private medical and dental colleges to publicly display their approved fee structures at least three months before the start of admissions, as required by Section 20(7) of the PM&DC Act.

The council warned that any institution found charging more than the approved fee would face strict disciplinary action, including suspension of accreditation, cancellation of admissions, or legal proceedings under Section 33 of the Act.
