(Web Desk): PMDC has set Rs. 1.89 million as the maximum annual tuition fee for private medical and dental colleges for the 2025–26 academic session, reflecting a 5% increase from last year’s cap.

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has announced that the maximum annual tuition fee for private medical and dental colleges across the country for the 2025–26 academic session will be Rs. 1.89 million. This is a 5% increase from last year’s limit of Rs. 1.8 million, as per the provisions of the PMDC Act 2022.

The revised fee structure was recommended by the Medical Education Committee formed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, following widespread concerns from parents and students regarding high tuition costs. The issue was raised repeatedly in the Senate by PML-N Senator Irfan Siddiqui, prompting the government to take regulatory action.

For the 2024–25 academic session, the PMDC had capped fees at Rs. 1.8 million. With the new increase, the limit for 2025–26 has officially been raised to Rs. 1.89 million. From the 2026–27 session onward, any further fee adjustments will be based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation rate, making future increases more predictable and tied to economic indicators.

As per the official notification, all private medical and dental institutions are required to display their approved tuition fees at least three months before the start of the admission process, in compliance with Section 20(7) of the PMDC Act. The PMDC has made it clear that any institution found charging or displaying fees beyond the approved limit will face disciplinary action, including suspension of accreditation, halting of student admissions, or legal proceedings under Section 33 of the Act.
