LAHORE: (Suno News) The administration of the Government College University (GCU) in Lahore has imposed a new dress code by banning jeans and t-shirts.

According to the notification issued, both male and female students will not be allowed to wear jeans and t-shirts on the campus while female students will be required to adhere to modest clothing guidelines which also include wearing a dupatta.

Male students will be allowed to wear dress shirts and pants while it has been declared mandatory for all intermediate students to wear uniform.

Moreover, all students will be required to wear the university ID card in the classrooms and on the university premises. Violators of the guidelines will be fined.

The GCU administration has made it clear that strict measures will be enforced to ensure compliance with the new dress code.

GCU Vice Chancellor Dr Shazia Bashir defended the decision, emphasising the importance of upholding discipline and appropriate behaviour within the academic institution.

Students have expressed reservations about the new dress code. They say that such strict instructions have not been issued in any other university, due to which students are feeling uneasy about it.
