LAHORE (Web Desk): The Punjab teacher dress code has been officially introduced by the Punjab School Education Department, setting a new standard for teachers in public sector schools.

The new policy directs education authorities to strictly enforce the Punjab teacher dress code across all districts. Officials say the move is meant to promote discipline, equality, and a professional image within educational institutions.

Under the Punjab teacher dress code, teachers are required to wear a black gown during school hours while carrying out academic duties. The gown must be worn over modest clothing that follows cultural, social, and ethical norms.

According to the department, the Punjab teacher dress code uses the black gown as a symbol of dignity and respect for the teaching profession.

Authorities believe a uniform appearance will strengthen the academic atmosphere and highlight the importance of teachers as role models.

The guidelines within the Punjab teacher dress code also suggest appropriate daily attire.

Male teachers may choose plain shalwar kameez or a pant and shirt with closed shoes or strapped sandals, while female teachers are advised to wear dignified clothing with closed or modest footwear.

School heads have been tasked with ensuring daily compliance, while district education officers will monitor implementation. The department has stressed that the instructions must be followed in full spirit.
