The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has released detailed figures about the ongoing school meal programme for students studying in Islamabad’s public institutions.
Federal Education Minister Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that around 57045 students are currently receiving free lunch every day in 254 educational institutions across the federal capital.
According to official data, 222 public schools operating under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) are actively providing meals. The government is covering 75 percent of the total funding, while the remaining 25 percent, including logistics support, is being managed by Allah Wale Trust.
Area-wise figures show that 25397 students in 60 urban schools benefit from the programme. In Sehalla, 12404 students in 56 schools are enrolled. Nilore has 6843 students in 40 schools, Bhara Kahu has 5782 students in 37 schools, and Tarnol covers 6619 students in 29 schools.

Additionally, five special education centres under the Directorate General of Special Education are also providing free meals to children with visual, hearing and physical disabilities. This facility began on January 22, 2025. Another 28 Basic Education Community Schools are included in the programme.
The school meal programme was originally launched in February 2022 in 40 primary schools. In April 2024, expanded funding significantly increased its outreach to support more deserving students.
