Dubai Police have issued a strong warning to residents amid a rise in online begging and fraudulent donation campaigns during the holy month of Ramazan. Authorities say professional beggars and scammers are increasingly exploiting social media platforms and websites to manipulate emotions and generosity.
According to officials, these individuals pose as deserving cases and circulate fake appeals for Zakat and charity, misleading donors and diverting funds for illegal gain. The police stressed that such activities are criminal offenses under UAE law.
Jail, Heavy Fines for Digital Begging
Dubai Police confirmed that anyone involved in online begging or illegal fundraising can face up to three months in jail and a fine of AED 10,000. Law enforcement agencies have vowed strict action against unauthorized donation drives and deceptive online appeals.

Donate Only Through Approved Channels
Residents have been strongly advised to give Zakat and charitable donations only through officially approved and licensed charitable organizations. Authorities urged the public to avoid responding to donation requests circulating on social media or unverified websites.
Dubai Police also encouraged residents to report suspicious online activities immediately, noting that public cooperation plays a vital role in preventing fraud and protecting legitimate charitable causes during Ramazan.
Officials emphasized that while generosity is a core value of the holy month, donations must be made responsibly to ensure aid reaches those truly in need.
