According to officials, the first attack occurred on a Quetta-bound bus traveling through Obaro town on Monday night. Armed robbers reportedly abducted 19 male passengers from the vehicle, while women passengers were left unharmed. Police and Rangers arrived at the scene after receiving reports, cordoned off the area, and launched a rescue operation. An encounter between law enforcement and the robbers in Somiani resulted in the rescue of 10 hostages. Some of the rescued passengers were injured and are currently receiving medical treatment.
In a separate, equally alarming incident, 15 to 20 armed robbers attacked another bus near the Mureed Shakh Interchange on the M5 Motorway, targeting passengers traveling on the Guddu-Kashmore Link Road. Eyewitnesses said the assailants fired at the bus for approximately 30 minutes, causing tires to burst and forcing the abduction of 18 male passengers into nearby sugarcane fields. Women passengers remained unharmed, though several male passengers were injured during the attack and were taken to Rahim Yar Khan hospital.

Police officials confirmed that the suspects are heavily armed with modern weapons and are being pursued in coordination with local law enforcement. Authorities have surrounded sugarcane fields near Obaro and Ghotki to track down the criminals. While 10 passengers have been rescued so far, others are either still in captivity or have fled to nearby villages to escape the attackers.
The incidents have sparked fear among commuters, raising concerns about highway safety in Sindh. Police spokespersons urged travelers to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary travel in remote areas, and report suspicious activity immediately.
Officials are investigating possible links between the attacks and have pledged to bring the perpetrators to justice. Authorities continue rescue operations and cordons across the affected regions, emphasizing that public cooperation is crucial in locating the abductors and preventing future attacks.
