KASUR (Web Desk): A suspect accused of raping a minor girl was killed on Saturday during an alleged encounter with the Crime Control Department (CCD) of Punjab Police in Kasur.

The suspect, identified as Tariq, was reportedly being taken to identify a crime scene when the encounter occurred. Officials said the incident happened after Tariq’s associates opened fire on the CCD team. During the exchange, Tariq was killed by bullets fired by his own accomplices.

Authorities revealed that DNA evidence linked Tariq to the rape of two other minor girls. He was also reportedly addicted to ice (crystal meth) and had a history of sexual offences against children.

Punjab Police earlier denied claims of fake encounters by the CCD, highlighting that crime rates in the province have dropped by up to 60% since the department was formed. This clarification was submitted in a report to the Lahore High Court in response to a petition challenging CCD encounters.
