RAWALPINDI (Web Desk): Renowned religious scholar Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza has been handed over to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on a 7-day physical remand in a case related to alleged disrespect of sacred personalities.

According to local media, FIA produced Engineer Mirza in Rawalpindi Katcheri under tight security. Heavy arrangements were made as he was brought to the court surrounded by officials.

The hearing was conducted by Senior Civil Judge Waqar Hussain Gondal. FIA requested a 7-day physical remand, which the court approved. The judge directed that investigations be completed and Mirza be produced again on September 19.

After the order, FIA officials escorted him back under strict security.

It is worth noting that Engineer Mirza was arrested on August 25 from his academy in Jhelum’s Machine Mohalla by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency. His arrest came on the orders of Jhelum Deputy Commissioner Syed Maisam Abbas under Section 3 of the MPO, following controversial religious statements. His academy was also sealed soon after.

The arrest of Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza has triggered wide debate across the country. While authorities argue that the action was taken due to controversial remarks and public order concerns, his supporters see it as suppression of free speech.

With his academy sealed and remand extended, the case highlights the tense balance between law enforcement, religious sensitivities, and freedom of expression in Pakistan. The next hearing on September 19 is likely to draw even more attention from both followers and critics, keeping the controversy alive.
