The actor’s body was discovered in a Karachi apartment on July 8, prompting the formation of a special investigation team to probe the incident.
According to the report by South Deputy Inspector General Syed Asad Raza, there are “no signs of foul play or suicide.” The report further stated that the circumstances point to an accidental or natural cause of death, potentially while she was engaged in household chores.
The investigation pointed to the double-locked door and the presence of all keys inside, suggesting no third-party involvement. Additionally, there were no signs of physical assault, struggle, or weapon marks found during the initial post-mortem. The report also highlighted that toxicology and forensic analysis are still pending to confirm the exact cause of death.
The report also shed light on earlier concerns regarding a foul smell reported by neighbors in December 2024. Although the building’s staff visited the apartment in January, no substantial issues were detected, and the smell was assumed to have dispersed through an open balcony door and window.
Interestingly, Humaira had a pattern of extended absences, and the building owner had already filed an eviction case, which led to the assumption that she was out of town. Police digital and forensic analysis of her personal devices revealed that her last recorded outgoing communication was on October 7, 2024, with no activity since then. The report strongly suggests that she died later that same day.
The police also pointed out the lack of surveillance at the apartment building, as no CCTV cameras were installed inside or outside the building, and there was no lift operator or front security to monitor residents.

Her body was laid to rest in the Model Town Q Block graveyard in Lahore last Friday. An autopsy report confirmed that the body was in an “advanced stage of decomposition” and was at least eight months old. However, the coroner could not determine the cause of death due to the state of decomposition.
The investigation into Humaira Asghar’s death is raising more questions than answers, with a significant gap between the time of her last known activity and the discovery of her body. While initial findings suggest an accidental or natural cause, the lack of surveillance, the advanced decomposition of the body, and the unclear circumstances around her absence pose challenges to fully understanding what happened.
The lack of third-party involvement is a key finding, but pending toxicology and forensic results may yet provide more clarity. This case underscores the importance of better security measures in residential buildings and more thorough follow-up on missing persons, especially in cases with extended absences.
