This incident comes despite recent claims by Gujranwala police of a significant decline in major property crimes. Police have initiated a manhunt and assured the public that the perpetrators will be apprehended soon.

Earlier this month, authorities highlighted a crackdown on organized criminal groups.
According to the Punjab Safe Cities Authority, emergency call data (Pucar-15) from the first four months of 2025 shows a 47% drop in shop robberies compared to the same period in 2024.
Other property crimes have also declined: shop dacoities by 20%, home robberies by 29%, shop burglaries by 11%, and car thefts by 14%, as reported by The News.
The CPO of Gujranwala attributed the improvements to the efforts of the police, especially the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA), which dismantled several inter-district criminal networks.
