(Web Desk): The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has issued comprehensive guidelines to make changing the current address on the Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) easier for citizens across Pakistan.

According to NADRA, applicants must provide at least one valid document as proof of residence to update their address. Accepted documents include electricity, gas, or water utility bills registered in the applicant’s own name, or in the name of parents or spouse. Other acceptable proofs include domicile certificates, property ownership documents, housing society allotment letters, and officially attested rental agreements.

A NADRA spokesperson said citizens can visit their nearest NADRA Registration Center with the required documents, where staff will guide them through the complete address change process. The authority has emphasized that the procedure has been made faster and more transparent to minimize delays and public inconvenience.

In addition, NADRA has introduced the option to apply online through the Pak-Identity mobile application, allowing citizens to submit their address change requests from home by uploading the required information and supporting documents. This online facility has significantly reduced the need for repeated visits to NADRA offices.

Officials have urged citizens to keep their residential address updated, stating that an accurate address is essential for access to government services, bank accounts, passport issuance, electoral records, and other legal and official matters. Citizens have also been advised to update their records in a timely manner to avoid future complications in official processes.
