New fee of driving licence in Punjab

(Web desk): To drive a car or any other vehicle, a licence is required. In Pakistan, the government issues license for drivers after charging certain amount of fee and conducting theoretical and practical examinations.

Driving any vehicle without license may lead to imposition of penalty and fines. One can face litigation in case of not having license for driving a vehicle.

The government has formed a procedure to obtain the license to drive a vehicle. The applicants, who want to get license, have to pass specific theoretical and practical tests. The applicant has to submit a fixed amount to the government as a payment for getting licenses.

The Punjab government announced earlier this year the rise of all driving license fees, including those for Lahore and Rawalpindi.

It is pertinent to note that government raised the amount of fee after 20 years. It went up the fees of learner license, car, motorcycle license and others.

 

Learner License Fee

Punjab government set Rs 500 fee for obtaining a learning driving license. In the past, it was just Rs60.

Motorcycle Driver’s License Fee

The government get Rs550 for a five-year motorcycle driver’s license in the past. Currently, the authority is receiving Rs500 annually for driving license of motorbike

Driving License for car or SUV

The government fixed Rs1,800 annual cost of a car or jeep driving license. Earlier, to obtain a five-year driving license for a car or jeep cost Rs950.
