According to the hospital administration, the suspension was caused by the provincial government’s failure to release funds to the insurance company responsible for covering patients’ expenses under the Sehat Card scheme.
An official statement clarified that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has not provided funds to the insurance company for a long period, which led the company to stop payments to hospitals. As a result, free treatment under the program has been halted.
The administration further revealed that the insurance company owes millions of rupees, and the hospital is facing serious financial difficulties due to continuous non-payment. The hospital stated that the free medical services will only resume once the funds are released.
Meanwhile, patients and their families expressed deep frustration over the suspension, saying that the Sehat Card was the only hope for poor people, and its closure has worsened their problems.
Sources warned that if the government fails to release funds soon, other government hospitals across the province may also stop offering treatment under the Sehat Card program.

The suspension of free healthcare exposes the fragile state of public health funding in the province. For many low-income families, the Sehat Card was a lifeline. The delay in funds not only affects patients but also strains hospitals already struggling with limited resources. Quick government action is vital to restore the trust and relief this program once provided.
