(Web Desk): A viral video from Lady Willingdon Hospital shows doctors competition during separate C-section operations, prompting an action by the health minister.

The incident occurred when two surgical teams, led by Dr Tayyaba and Dr Ayesha, were performing cesarean sections in the same operation theater. Staff members recorded a video showing both teams racing to finish the surgery fastest, with Dr Isa allegedly set to judge the contest.

The video revealed that one supporter backed Dr Tayyaba while another supported Dr Ayesha, highlighting a full competition between the two teams.

Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique took strict notice of the incident and confirmed that strong departmental action would be taken. He clarified that the viral video is old, but accountability will be enforced for this serious ethical and professional negligence.

Secretary Health Azmat Mahmood formed a special committee to investigate the matter. She emphasized that mobile phones are strictly prohibited during patient treatment in hospitals.

Following the incident, the Punjab government asked Lady Willingdon Hospital’s MS Dr Farah Inam and Head of Gynecology Prof Dr Uzma Hussain to submit a reply within three days. A notification from the Specialized Health Care & Medical Education Department suspended the postgraduate training of four doctors: Dr Tayyaba Fatima Tor, Dr Mahem Amin, Dr Zainab Tahir, and Dr Ayesha Afzal. Postgraduate residents were instructed to report to the department.

The notification stated that such actions violate medical ethics, disrespect patients’ dignity, and breach professional standards, reflecting serious negligence in public service and administrative gaps.

Secretary Health Azmat Mahmood warned that disciplinary action will follow if satisfactory responses are not submitted on time.
