The Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has launched a program for deserving individuals. Under this program, eligible patients will receive free heart surgeries, scheduled according to the severity of their condition.
All processes and arrangements for this program have been completed. Nine public hospitals and fifteen private cardiac hospitals are included in this program, which will provide free treatment to eligible patients.
At the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) in Lahore, doctors have already performed the first free and successful open-heart surgery.
The funds arranged for the program are more than 3 billion annually. The government’s main goal is to clear the waiting lists for open-heart surgeries within the next six months.
