(Web Desk): The Government of Punjab has launched the Basant anthem #PhirAaiBasant, celebrating the return of the traditional kite-flying festival under CM Maryam Nawaz.

The anthem marks Basant’s recognition as a vital cultural heritage of Punjab, blending tradition with modern safety and regulatory frameworks to ensure an organized festival.

The initiative reflects a longstanding cultural vision associated with the Nawaz Sharif legacy, aimed at preserving Punjab’s shared traditions and historical heritage. With the anthem launch, Basant has gained formal acknowledgment as a regulated cultural event, ensuring both enjoyment and public safety.

As part of the approved arrangements, mandatory roof NOCs have been introduced for kite flying, and the sale of kites and strings is restricted to government-authorized dealers. Aviation safety measures include a complete ban on kite flying near Lahore Airport, while motorcycle riders are required to use safety wires to reduce accidents during festival days.

To ease traffic and public movement, the Punjab government has announced free public transport services from February 6 to 8, encouraging the public to use buses and metro services instead of motorcycles and private vehicles. Authorities emphasized that these measures aim to create a safe and organized environment while allowing citizens to enjoy the Basant festivities responsibly.

The official anthem #PhirAaiBasant is available across the Government of Punjab’s digital platforms, allowing the public to celebrate the festival virtually and culturally. The release also underlines Punjab’s commitment to reviving Basant as a safe, structured, and culturally significant festival in the province.
