Videos shared by international news agency showed people climbing fences and hurling objects onto the field and track. Objects were thrown, seats ripped apart, and the stage was damaged as fans tried to get closer to the soccer star.
Messi appeared for just 20 minutes, heavily surrounded by his entourage, making him barely visible to fans.
“Only leaders and actors were surrounding Messi,” one frustrated fan told the news agency “Why did they call us then? We paid Rs12,000 for a ticket but could not even see his face.” Tour organizers of Argentina and Inter Miami forward Messi did not respond to requests for comment.

Messi’s India tour includes concerts, youth football clinics, a padel tournament, and charitable initiatives across Kolkata, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and New Delhi. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee apologised to Messi and ordered a probe into the incident.
Satadru Dutta, the event's chief organizer, has been detained by police, said Rajeev Kumar, director general of West Bengal police.
