
During the initial interrogation, the suspect, Umar Hayat, reportedly confessed to the crime. According to police sources, the arrest was made using technical tools and CCTV footage.
Authorities also recovered the murder weapon and the victim’s iPhone from the suspect. The accused, who hails from Punjab, was apprehended in the Jaranwala area of Faisalabad.
Investigators revealed that the suspect had been in contact with Sana Yousaf for some time. Early findings suggest a personal grudge as the motive behind the murder.
Sources say that Umar meticulously planned the attack and traveled to Sana’s residence in Sector G-13, Islamabad, to carry it out.
He parked his motorcycle near the crime scene and, as captured on CCTV, was seen fleeing on foot immediately after the shooting. Following the murder, he escaped on the same motorcycle.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi commended the Islamabad Police for arresting the suspect within 20 hours of the incident. After completing initial legal and post-mortem procedures, police sent Sana Yousaf’s body to her native town in Upper Chitral.

Earlier, in her preliminary statement to police, Sana’s mother said she could identify the suspect if presented. According to the FIR, an unidentified man entered Sana Yousaf’s house around 5 PM on Monday and shot her twice in the chest before fleeing. Despite being rushed to the hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.
