Police bust gang involved in honey trapping, robbing playwright Khalilur Rehman Qamar

LAHORE: (Suno News) Police busted a gang including four women and five men involved in honey trapping famous playwright Khalilur Rehman Qamar and robbing him of cash and other valuables.

According to police sources, the accused were involved in extorting money by honey trapping famous and wealthy personalities. The Organised Crime Unit of Model Town police arrested the accused.

Among the arrested suspects is Amina Urooj, who spoke to Khalilur Rehman Qamar on the phone. The accused have honey trapped many people in the city. A few members of the gang were arrested in Lahore while the rest were arrested from other cities.

A girl named Amina Urooj was in contact with Khalilur Rehman Qamar for five to six days. She said to him that she had come from England and wanted to make a play.

It is to be noted here that famous playwright Khalilur Rehman Qamar was released after paying ransom to his abductors.

Amina Urooj called Khalilur Rehman Qamar to her house on the pretense of making a play. Khalilur Rehman was in her house when seven to eight armed men came. They blindfolded him and tortured him.

The accused forced the playwright into a car and abducted him. They demanded $10 million to release him and also withdrew Rs260,000 from his ATM card at gunpoint. They also took away cash, a wallet, a cell phone and a valuable watch.

It merits a mention here that the well-known playwright gained fame with his various plays especially "Mere Paas Tum Ho".

Besides, he has also been in the limelight of controversies, be it the fight with Marvi Sarmad during a talk show or the recent outrage over a woman’s argument with public speaker Sahil Adeem.
