In a sorrowful turn of events, celebrated Pakistani actress Ayesha Khan was found dead in her apartment in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal area. Police officials confirmed the discovery, stating that the body appeared to be nearly a week old.

According to the police, Ayesha had been living alone. Her neighbors alerted her family after detecting a foul smell coming from the flat. Authorities reached the scene shortly after and shifted the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

Following initial medico-legal procedures, Ayesha’s body was moved to the Edhi Foundation’s mortuary at Sohrab Goth. The police stated that a post-mortem will be conducted upon the family’s request.

Born in 1948, Ayesha Khan was a veteran of Pakistan’s television and film industry. She was known for her powerful performances in iconic dramas such as “Afshan”, “Uroosa”, “Aanch”, “Bandhan”, “Lamha”, and Zindaan.

She also starred in several telefilms and movies, including “Safar Bakhair” and “Muskaan”. Ayesha was the elder sister of the late actress Khalida Riasat.

President of the Arts Council of Pakistan, Ahmed Shah, paid tribute to her legacy, saying she had acted for over five decades and her passing marked a significant loss for Pakistan’s drama industry. Funeral details will be announced by her family later.
