KARACHI (Suno News): The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) ended 2025 on a weak note as the KSE-100 Index slipped in cautious year-end trade.

The fall reflected investor hesitation on the final trading day as the benchmark KSE-100 Index closed lower by 418.47 points, according to PSX data.

It showed a decline of 0.24 percent to settle at 174,054.32 points, compared to 174,472.80 points in the previous session.

Trading activity remained active despite the bearish close. The ready market recorded a volume of 957.239 million shares, with a total traded value of Rs44,231,000,000, compared to 851.044 million shares worth Rs44,903,000,000 a day earlier. Market capitalization edged down to Rs19,690,000,000,000 from Rs19,693,000,000,000.

Out of 481 companies traded, 221 stocks advanced, 223 declined, while 37 remained unchanged, showing a mixed but cautious market mood at year end.

K-Electric Limited led the volume chart with 95.896 million shares, followed by PIA Holding Company Limited with 61.811 million shares and Pak International Bulk with 47.666 million shares.

Among top gainers, PIA Holding Company LimitedB surged by Rs1,776.42 to close at Rs19,540.58, while Rafhan Maize Products Company Limited rose by Rs119.76 to settle at Rs10,058.37.

On the downside, Hafiz Limited dropped by Rs48.23 to close at Rs483.27, while Premium Textile Mills Limited declined by Rs43.04 to end at Rs450.23.

In the futures market, turnover stood at 206.329 million shares with a traded value of Rs11,811,000,000, compared to 194.799 million shares worth Rs12,447,000,000 previously. Out of 313 futures companies, 133 advanced, 176 declined, and four remained unchanged.

PIAHCLA-JAN topped futures trading with 42.818 million shares, followed by KEL-JAN with 20.578 million shares and WTL-JAN with 13.053 million shares.

The weak close shows investors preferred caution on the last day of 2025. Profit-taking and year-end adjustments shaped the market. Direction in the new year will depend on economic clarity and confidence.
