KARACHI (Web Desk): The Rupee gained 1 paisa against dollar in interbank trade, closing at Rs279.96 compared to the previous close of Rs279.97.

Amid a slight but positive move, market dealers said the change was small, yet it reflected a stable tone in currency trading. The movement suggests balanced demand and supply during the session.

In the open market, the Forex Association of Pakistan reported the dollar buying rate at Rs280.7 and the selling rate at Rs282.8, indicating a narrow spread for traders and consumers.

Meanwhile, the euro weakened and closed at Rs325.59 after falling by Rs0.38 from the previous level of Rs325.97, as shared by the State Bank of Pakistan.

The Japanese yen stayed unchanged at Rs1.76. The British pound slipped by Rs0.24 to settle at Rs376.07, compared to its earlier close of Rs376.31.

Other regional currencies showed no movement. The Emirates dirham closed at Rs76.22, while the Saudi riyal ended the session at Rs74.65.

The Rupee’s small gain shows calm conditions in the forex market. Stable regional currencies suggest limited pressure on the local unit. Minor daily changes point to cautious trading and controlled demand.
