Economic experts say the reduction in diesel prices is expected to benefit key sectors such as transport, agriculture, and industry, as diesel is widely used for freight movement, farming machinery, and power generation.
The government stated that the price adjustment aims to balance consumer relief with economic stability during challenging financial conditions.
Meanwhile, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has also announced a reduction in Re-Gasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) prices for December.
According to OGRA’s notification, RLNG prices have been reduced by up to 5.9 percent. For Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), prices were cut by 4.61 percent, setting the new rate at $11.82 per MMBtu. For Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), RLNG prices were reduced by 5.90 percent, bringing the tariff down to $10.77 per MMBtu.
OGRA confirmed that the revised RLNG prices will be applicable from December 1, offering some relief to gas consumers and energy producers.
