Sources familiar with the matter said the federal government is reviewing petroleum prices for the next fifteen days starting December 16, 2025, amid a continued downward trend in international crude oil markets.
According to preliminary estimates, the price of petrol may decrease slightly by Rs 0.36 per litre. In contrast, high-speed diesel is expected to see a sharper cut of up to Rs 11.85 per litre, offering comparatively greater relief.
Analysts say a significant reduction in diesel prices could positively impact transport costs, agricultural operations and industrial activity, as diesel is widely used for freight movement, farming machinery and power generation.

The expected decrease in petrol prices, however, is relatively modest and may not bring noticeable relief for private vehicle owners. Still, experts view any price cut as a welcome step amid high inflation and rising household expenses.
Officials stressed that these figures are based on current international price trends and exchange rate calculations. The final petroleum prices will be determined after adjustments for taxes, levies and margins.
The federal government is scheduled to announce the revised petroleum prices on Sunday, which will remain effective for the next fifteen days. Consumers are closely watching whether the full benefit of lower global oil prices is passed on domestically.
