ISLAMABAD (Ashraf Khan): Good news is finally here for millions of Pakistanis as the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced a significant price cut in liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for June 2025.

The government has offered much-needed relief to both households and commercial users.

According to the notification issued by OGRA, the price of LPG has been reduced by Rs4.62 per kg. The new price for June is now Rs240.53 per kg, down from May’s rate of Rs245.16 per kg.

The price of the standard domestic cylinder (11.8 kg) has also dropped significantly:

New cylinder price for June: Rs2,838

Previous price in May: Rs2,892

Total savings: Rs54.60 per cylinder

This reduction comes as a direct relief for families who rely on LPG for cooking and heating; small businesses, roadside stalls, and commercial kitchens; anyone struggling with Pakistan’s rising cost of living.

nergy experts are calling this a positive step in easing the financial burden on the public. Lower LPG prices mean cheaper meals at home and lower operational costs for eateries and vendors.

OGRA stated that this decision is based on a decrease in international LPG prices, and the current local market conditions in Pakistan.

By adjusting the rates to match global trends, OGRA aims to pass on the benefit directly to consumers — and people are taking notice.

Many citizens are welcoming this move, hoping that more such price cuts will follow to help battle inflation and rising utility costs.

If trends continue and global markets remain favorable, there could be more reductions in fuel-related costs in the near future — giving the average Pakistani some breathing room.

This price drop is a rare but welcome moment of financial relief in a country where energy costs have been climbing steadily. The timing is crucial—just as summer bills rise, this cut helps reduce household stress. It also shows OGRA’s responsiveness to global pricing trends, setting a positive tone for future regulatory action.

If continued, such price adjustments can build public trust, encourage the use of cleaner fuels like LPG, and ease inflationary pressure across multiple sectors.
