(Web Desk): OGRA cracks down on fuel adulteration, fining a petrol pump Rs11 million after toxic chemicals were found.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority has imposed a fine of Rs11 million on a petrol pump owner in Muzaffargarh after uncovering a major fuel adulteration scandal. The action comes as part of an intensified crackdown on illegal practices in Pakistan’s petroleum sector.

According to officials, the operation targeted Rana Filling Station after a media report revealed illegal storage of petroleum products. During a raid, authorities discovered more than 135000 liters of petrol and diesel stored without a valid license, raising serious regulatory concerns.

Laboratory testing later confirmed that both petrol and diesel were mixed with harmful chemical substances. Experts warned that such adulteration can severely damage vehicle engines and pose significant safety risks to the public. Investigators also found that the contaminated fuel was being distributed to multiple areas, potentially affecting a wide number of consumers.

Following the findings, OGRA cancelled the station’s No Objection Certificate (NOC) and ordered the seizure of all machinery, storage tanks, and related equipment. The district administration has been directed to take control of the petroleum stock available at the site.

The regulator has also announced action against the private oil company linked to the filling station, reiterating its zero-tolerance policy against fuel adulteration and illegal storage. Officials say further inspections and enforcement actions will continue across the country.
