KARACHI (Web Desk): New currency notes will be unavailable on Eidul Fitr as State Bank Governor Jameel Ahmad said approval and printing process still incomplete.

State Bank of Pakistan Governor Jameel Ahmad has confirmed that new design currency notes will not be available on Eid ul Fitr. This announcement has disappointed many citizens who were hoping to get fresh notes for Eid celebrations, a tradition followed across the country.

He explained that the new currency note designs have already been sent to the federal cabinet for approval. However, after approval, the printing process and preparation of enough stock will take time. Only after completing these steps will the new notes be officially issued.

The governor also shared positive updates about Pakistan’s economy. He said inflation is now under control and financial stability is improving. He added that the country’s focus is now on economic growth, and this progress is expected to continue for the next two years under the IMF program lasting until September 2027.

Jameel Ahmad said non food exports have increased by 5 to 6 percent, although rice exports have declined recently. He expressed hope that rice exports will improve soon. He also revealed that remittances are expected to exceed $42 billion in the current fiscal year, which will support the country’s economy.

He further said that out of $10 5 billion in total payments this fiscal year, Pakistan has already paid $6 billion. The remaining $4 billion to $4 5 billion will also be paid on time, showing improving financial discipline.

The governor highlighted that the new currency notes will include the latest security features. These features will make it easier for ordinary people to identify genuine and fake notes, helping reduce fraud and increase trust in the currency.

Many people were waiting for new notes on Eid, but this delay shows the process is still ongoing. The government wants to ensure proper approval and security before releasing them.

This delay shows the authorities want to complete all steps carefully. New security features are important to stop fake currency. People may feel disappointed now, but better security can help in the future. It also shows economic stability is becoming a priority.
