Sindh govt set to present Rs23.5 trillion budget for 2024-25 today

KARACHI: (Suno News) The Sindh government is set to present the provincial budget of Rs23.5 trillion for the fiscal year (FY) 2024-25 today.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah will present the budget which will be focused on raising salaries and completing ongoing development projects.

The Sindh government has proposed a 20 to 25 percent increase in the salaries of government employees in the budget.

It has also decided to give more than 50,000 new jobs in the education, police, energy and other departments.

It is to be noted here that the provincial government had earlier decided to increase the salaries of government employees by 15 percent.

However, after the 25 percent increase in the salaries of federal government employees, the Sindh government has proposed to increase the salaries of the provincial government employees by 20 to 25 percent.

The government is also going to allocate maximum funds for the completion of ongoing development schemes in the province.

On Thursday, Punjab Finance Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rahman presented tax-free budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2024-25 worth Rs5,390 billion in the Punjab Assembly.

The Punjab Assembly session started with a delay of one hour and 37 minutes. Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Ahmad Khan presided over the session. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was also present in the House.

The provincial finance minister said relief was being provided to every class in the budget. “Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has reduced inflation in the province to a record level,” he said.

“The inflation rate has been brought to 11.8 while the government is providing business friendly environment in the province,” he stated.

“The government is presenting a tax-free budget for the first time in the history of Punjab as Maryam Nawaz took revolutionary measures in a short period of 100 days bringing significant reduction in government expenditure. Thus, development has started in Punjab,” he added.
