The administration raised the fees for private, commercial, electric vehicles (EVs), and motorbikes.
According to an official notification issued on April 11, 2025, the revised fee structure will take effect from April 14, 2025.
This marks a dramatic fee hike. This will also affect luxury and high-displacement vehicles, electric vehicles, which were previously exempt from transfer fees.
The revision of the fees will also affect the owners of the two-wheel vehicles.🚨
The fee revision was introduced under Rule 47 of the West Pakistan Motor Vehicles Rules, 1969, by the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad. Officials claim the update aims to standardize transfer charges and boost government revenue, though it comes amid increasing pressure on citizens facing high fuel prices and rising inflation.
All vehicle transfers processed on or after April 14, 2025, will be subject to the revised rates. The Ministry of Finance has instructed that updated payments be deposited under the appropriate account head.
