ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): The federal government has taken a major decision to implement a uniform tariff system for electricity consumers.

In light of the federal government s decision, the Power Division has approached NEPRA for consideration regarding uniform tariffs. The authority will hear the application regarding uniform electricity tariffs on July 1. The government has submitted the application under Rule 17 of the NEPRA Tariff Rules 1998.

The petition takes the position that the proposed tariff should include subsidies and inter-discount rate rationalization, with the aim of setting equal rates for all consumers across the country. The tariff is proposed to be implemented from July 1, 2025.
