ISLAMABAD (Suno News): The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has rejected reports about changes in the Income Tax Return Form 2025, calling them baseless and misleading.

In an official clarification, FBR stated that no change or amendment has been made to the income tax return form through any SRO. It said that some social media groups are spreading false claims about alterations in the return form for 2025.

Officials confirmed that the Income Tax Return Form 2025 was uploaded on the FBR website on July 7. On page 66 of the form, taxpayers are required to declare the market value of their assets. However, many taxpayers were entering zero in the asset value field, which has now been restricted.

FBR clarified that entering the market value of property or assets is completely at the discretion of the taxpayer. Wealthy individuals are already required to declare assets under Section 7E. These entries are not used for tax calculation, and no notice will be issued for any mistakes in them.

The statement further explained that taxpayers are expected to declare values close to the market price. Those who have already filed their returns will not be asked to amend or refile them.

According to FBR, the declared asset values will not be used for tax assessment or for reconciliation of the wealth statement. The IRIS system is working smoothly and is fully functional for tax return filing.

The FBR also urged taxpayers to file their returns as soon as possible, reminding that the deadline for submission is September 30, 2025.
