LAHORE: (Suno News) An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore indicted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders including Dr Yasmin Rashid, Ejaz Chaudhry, and Mehmood-ur-Rashid in the cases related to the May 9 violence.

The court ordered a jail trial of the accused and summoned the witnesses at the next hearing. It is to be noted here that cases against the accused had been registered at Sarwar Road and Shadman police stations.

It is also worth mentioning here that on May 9, 2023, after the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan from the premises of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in the Al-Qadir Trust case, a nationwide protest was held by the PTI, during which military, public, and private facilities were vandalized.

The protesting political workers also stormed the Corps Commander’s residence in Lahore, also known as Jinnah House, and broke a gate of the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.

Subsequently, 1,900 people involved in vandalism and arson were arrested across the country by law enforcement agencies, while cases were also registered against Imran Khan and his party workers.

Dr Yasmin Rashid, along with other leaders and activists, were named in an FIR registered at Sarwar Road police station for the attack on the Corps Commander’s House.
