Meanwhile, neighboring Thailand is also facing severe weather. Heavy rains have led to 170 deaths, and in Hat Yai, last week’s rainfall broke a three-century-old record.
About 300 millimeters of rain turned entire regions into temporary lakes, causing widespread disruption.
