In a significant rhetorical escalation, former U.S. President Donald Trump declared that the United States “won’t take out” Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei,“at least not for now”, while calling for Tehran’s “unconditional surrender.” His remarks come amid a full-blown aerial campaign between Israel and Iran, intensifying concerns of regional destabilization.

Trump’s provocative comments were posted on X (Formerly Twitter), following reports that Israeli airstrikes had killed senior Iranian military commander Ali Shadmani in Tehran. Shadmani’s death marks the second high-profile Iranian casualty in under a week, after Gholam Ali Rashid was martyred in Israel’s opening wave of strikes.

The Islamic Republic retaliated by launching ballistic missiles toward key Israeli urban centers, including Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Sirens sounded near the Dimona nuclear facility, though there were no confirmed direct hits. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards also warned civilians in Tel Aviv and Haifa to evacuate, citing “punitive operations” in response to Israeli aggression.
As the conflict entered its fifth consecutive day, civilian casualties mounted on both sides. Iran reported over 220 deaths, including military figures and civilians, while Israel confirmed at least 24 fatalities. The conflict has paralyzed diplomatic backchannels and halted ongoing nuclear negotiations between Tehran and Washington.

A carrier group is reportedly, signaling strategic readiness amid mounting regional volatility.
