(Web Desk): Andy Byron, the chief executive of technology firm Astronomer, has been put on leave after a video of him hugging a colleague at a Coldplay concert went viral.

The video, appearing on the Jumbotron at Massachusetts  Gillette Stadium, caught Byron embracing Kristin Cabot, the company s Chief People Officer. As soon as the couple realized that they were on camera, they pulled away immediately and attempted to cover their faces. Coldplay s lead vocalist Chris Martin wisecracked on stage, stating, "Either they re having an affair or they re just very shy."

The incident soon went viral on the internet, with most sharing memes and jokes regarding it. Some even propagated false news, ranging from a false quote from a spoof account to an unidentified person in the video.

As the video became internet sensation the company suspends the CEO  responding that it expects its executives to exhibit high levels of conduct and that its board of directors has initiated a formal inquiry.

The firm also made it clear that false information is being posted online.

Astronomer s cofounder and Chief Product Officer, Pete DeJoy, is currently serving as interim CEO until the investigation is ongoing.

In May, Astronomer had raised a $93 million round led by Bain Ventures and other investors such as Salesforce Ventures.

The firm, which operates the open-source data operations platform Astro, had moved its headquarters last year from Cincinnati, Ohio, to New York.
