(Web Desk): The world of fashion is in mourning following the death of legendary designer Giorgio Armani

According to a report from TMZ, the Italian-born fashion mogul died at his home on Thursday, surrounded by loved ones. His passing comes just weeks before a highly anticipated event during Milan Fashion Week, which was set to commemorate 50 years of his iconic brand.

In an official statement, the Armani Group confirmed the news, expressing deep sorrow:

“With immense grief, the Armani Group announces the passing of its founder, visionary, and unwavering force—Giorgio Armani. Known respectfully as  Il Signor Armani  by all who worked with him, he passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family. Tireless until the very end, he remained devoted to his work, overseeing collections and future projects with unrelenting passion.”

A public funeral chamber will be held at the Armani Teatro in Milan on Saturday and Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., followed by a private funeral service at a later date.

Notably, Armani had missed his Milan fashion shows in June for the first time ever, reportedly due to an undisclosed illness.

Tributes from across the fashion world have poured in. Donatella Versace wrote:

“Today, the world lost a true giant. Giorgio Armani changed the course of fashion history and his legacy will live on forever.”

Born in July 1934 in the northern Italian town of Piacenza, Armani originally pursued a career in medicine. However, a part-time role as a window dresser at a department store in Milan sparked his passion for fashion—a twist of fate that would eventually revolutionize the industry.
